The client
Bridging the Future is a registered UK charity that helps young refugees and asylum seekers into education through a free STEM summer school and online mentoring.
The website speaks to several audiences at once: students applying, volunteers signing up and supporters donating.
What I built
Designed and built the website in Astro, with a clear route for each audience: Apply, Get Involved and Donate.
Pages for the programmes, the charity’s story, news and contact, written to be easy to read for young people with English as an additional language.
Performance work so pages load fast on phones: static pages, optimised images and very little JavaScript.
SEO setup: page titles and descriptions, structured data, sitemap and clean URLs, so the charity shows up for the searches that matter to it.
An accessibility widget, and a cookie banner that loads analytics and the donation form only with permission.
